On Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at a regularly scheduled City Council Meeting, held in the City of Orange Public Library Auditorium, 220 N. 5th Street, Orange Texas, at 9:00 a.m., a public hearing was held to receive citizen comments on the proposed use of CDBG-DR disaster recovery funds received from the General Land Office for Hurricane Harvey-4332 recovery grant funds for infrastructure projects. Eligible projects include: Flood Control/Drainage Projects, Acquisition/Buyout, Water Systems, Wastewater Systems, Roads/Streets, Debris Removal, Fire Protection Facilities, Gas Systems, Community Centers, Demo/Rehab of Public Buildings, Economic Development, and Public Services/Crime Prevention. The projects proposed for application are: Coopers Gully Lining Phase II, Regional Sewer Lift Station, Fire Truck designed to traverse floodwaters, Radio Tower, Community Center, Demolition of Cove School, updated City Master Plan, Acquisition/Buyouts, Water Tower Rehabilitation, Box Culvert Construction and Sluice Gates. Written citizen comments will be received at 803 W. Green Avenue, Room 201, Orange Texas, 77630, City of Orange City Hall 409-883-1055 or via email at grants@orangetexasgov.us.  The comment period has been extended and comments will be received until Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. close of the business day.

The City of Orange is in the process of developing Federal Grant Applications for mitigation and disaster recovery following Hurricane Harvey. Eligible projects include residential structure elevations, drainage improvements and updating the City’s Master Plan.  If you are a resident of the City of Orange and are interested in a grant to elevate your residence please contact MPTX at 409-379-2790 or via email at grants@orangetexasgov.us  to receive your informational packet.  Informational packets may also be obtained on the second floor of Central Fire Station located at 501 N. 7th Street.
