Weather Alert –

According to the National Weather Service – Lake Charles, a line of storms will be moving through our region late Friday and into early Saturday with the potential to produce severe storms.  The National Weather Service has confirmed there is an enhanced threat for damaging winds, large hail, and tornados in our region. 

The City of Orange Office of Emergency Management encourages citizens to monitor local weather channels and limit travel Friday evening through Saturday morning.  Citizens are also encouraged to secure all lightweight outdoor equipment and furnishings.

Mardi Gras Weekend – February 14 & 15, 2020

The City of Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the 17th Annual Mardi Gras Weekend – February 14 & 15.

Opening the Orange Mardi Gras Weekend, the Flashback Friday Parade will be held on Friday, February 14, beginning at 6:30 P.M. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best 80’s attire. Live entertainment by LA Roxx will immediately follow the Flashback Friday Parade at the Riverfront Pavilion.

The 4th Annual Munchkin Parade will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 15.  The Krewe of Krewe’s Grand Parade will begin at 6:00 P.M.

Food and drink vendors will be on-site throughout the weekend festivities. A children’s activity area will be available providing fun for the entire family!  Please note, no dogs or pets will be allowed at the Riverfront Boardwalk and Pavilion. Coolers are welcome.

New Year’s Holiday –

For the New Year’s holiday, the City of Orange will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, and again the City of Orange Police and Fire Departments will be working. There will be NO sanitation service on Wednesday, January 1st. Residents with Wednesday and/or Thursday service are asked to place their containers out on Thursday and note, if your can is not serviced on Thursday, it will be serviced on Friday, January 3rd. The City of Orange will be open for business on Thursday, January 2nd.

Christmas Holiday Schedule

In observance of the Christmas holiday, the City of Orange will be closed on Tuesday, December 24th and Wednesday, December 25th.  Much like Santa, the City of Orange Police and Fire Departments will be working to see who is being naughty or nice. There will be NO sanitation service on Wednesday, December 25th, Christmas Day.  Residents with Wednesday and/or Thursday service are asked to place their containers out on Thursday and note, if your can is not serviced on Thursday, it will be serviced on Friday, December 27th.  The City of Orange will be open for business on Thursday, December 26th

TPC Notice

The City of Orange continues to monitor the situation at the TPC refinery in Port Neches.  City officials have been monitoring the events since they have occurred and have been communicating with Orange County and other area officials.

Currently, there have been minimal effects reported in eastern Orange County.  The City of Orange advises everyone to stay updated on the situation through local media, and to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

Please keep those working to contain and extinguish the fire and those affected by it in your thoughts and prayers.
