COVID-19 Hotline Number Established
Orange County Judge John Gothia followed Governor Abbott’s executive order on Thursday with an Emergency Declaration for the county. Gothia said his declaration will closely follow the details of the executive order from the governor. Like the governor’s executive order, Gothia’s Emergency Declaration goes into effect at 11:59 PM on Friday, March 20.
Orange County is also establishing a phone number that citizens can call if they suspect they may have contracted COVID-19. Gothia indicated the phone line, (409) 550-2536, will go into effect at 8:00 AM on Friday.
The screening process begins with the phone call. Individuals will be screened for qualifications to determine if they will be tested at one of the facilities doing COVID-19 testing in the area. “If you make it through the screening that says you have it, you’ll be assigned a number and an appointment time and location of where you will take your test,” Gothia concluded.
