Animal Control Department

 

The City of Orange Animal Control Department operates under the supervision of the Orange Fire Department. The Animal Shelter is located at 806 Simmons Drive. The shelter is generally open Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. and 1:30 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Please call 883-1056 for information about the Animal Control Department.

Adoption Hours are 8:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m.
                                3:00 p.m. till  5:00 p.m.

Texas State Law now requires that we spay/neuter all animals before they leave the shelter.  State Law also requires that all animals, four (4) months or older, need to have a current rabies vaccination that has to be administered by a licensed veterinarian.

The following adoption fees include the neuter/spay and rabies vaccination charges for dogs:

Male                $65.00
Female            $77.50

The following adoption fees include the neuter/spay and rabies vaccination charges for cats:

Male              $55.00
Female           $65.00

Vaccination fee is $15.00

Boarding fee is 6:00 per day

Quarantine Boarding

When an animal is in quarantine, there will be a fee of $85.00.  This fee  includes boarding and a rabies vaccination.   If the animal is not picked up by owner after 10 days, boarding is $6.00/day.

Shelter Hours of Operation:

8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Monday through Friday except Holidays

Impound Fees

$10 per offense, escalating an additional $10 per offense up to a maximum of $30 per offense for multiple offenses involving the same animal within a 12-month period.

Please remember that we only have two (2) full-time officers at the shelter and sometimes we close the shelter in order to handle emergency situations.  We re-open as soon as we are able to.  If there is a problem in your area, please call the 883-1056.  If we are not there, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
