BUILDING OFFICIAL – CODE ENFORCEMENT

JOB SUMMARY: Protects the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Orange through enforcement of applicable codes and ordinances. Supervises and coordinates activities of the Inspection Division and provides procedural guidance to divisional staff. Reviews building plans and specifications; meets with builders, developers, and citizens; performs inspections and provides information on applicable regulations and requirements.

JOB DUTIES: Reviews and approves building construction plans, reviews and approves site plans, acts as Flood Plain Administrator. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in construction science preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required. Five (5) years related experience in all areas of building construction.

SALARY: $26.52/hour


 

UTILITY SERVICE WORKER II

JOB SUMMARY: This is a journey level class within the Utility Service Worker class series. Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled maintenance work, testing, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of the City’s water distribution and metering, sewer collection systems. Maintains water and wastewater systems, constructs new water and wastewater taps, and operates light to heavy equipment.

JOB DUTIES: Ensures continuous, effective operation of the City’s water and sewer systems: maintains safe and efficient operation of machines and equipment; Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid CDL driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Starting Salary: $14.86/Hour


MAINTENANCE WORKER II

JOB SUMMARY: This is a position in the Maintenance Worker series for the Street. Performs a variety of un-skilled or semi-skilled tasks and duties which contributes to the maintenance of City structures. Operates a variety of light equipment used in the construction, operation, repair, and maintenance of City facilities such as parks, ditches, storm sewers and related facilities.

JOB DUTIES: Operates machinery to repair, replace and resurface concrete and asphalt; pouring and finishing concrete; cleaning streets and roads to maintain their appearance and safety. Performs routine maintenance of vehicles, tools and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid CDL driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Starting Salary: $14.86/Hour
