BUILDING OFFICIAL – CODE ENFORCEMENT

JOB SUMMARY: Protects the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Orange through enforcement of applicable codes and ordinances. Supervises and coordinates activities of the Inspection Division and provides procedural guidance to divisional staff. Reviews building plans and specifications; meets with builders, developers, and citizens; performs inspections and provides information on applicable regulations and requirements.

JOB DUTIES: Reviews and approves building construction plans, reviews and approves site plans, acts as Flood Plain Administrator. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in construction science preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required. Five (5) years related experience in all areas of building construction.

SALARY: $26.52/hour


 

UTILITY SERVICE WORKER II

JOB SUMMARY: This is a journey level class within the Utility Service Worker class series. Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled maintenance work, testing, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of the City’s water distribution and metering, sewer collection systems. Maintains water and wastewater systems, constructs new water and wastewater taps, and operates light to heavy equipment.

JOB DUTIES: Ensures continuous, effective operation of the City’s water and sewer systems: maintains safe and efficient operation of machines and equipment; Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid CDL driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.

Starting Salary: $14.86/Hour


 Accounting Clerk

JOB SUMMARY: Performs administrative clerical work to verify, maintain and reconcile, general ledger, payroll, financial documents and payable transactions.

JOB DUTIES: Performs general clerical functions in support of all activities with the Finance Dept.; processes financial information and reconciles work; matches invoices with purchase orders; maintains files in both paper and electronic formats; processes cash and check payments for deposit or refund; assists in preparing request for bid proposals and other bid documents. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required. General knowledge of accounting and general office procedures.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Completion of 15 – 30 hours of college course work; Two (2) years experience in an accounting related field; knowledge of contract law and State and Federal purchasing policies preferred; knowledge of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance programs and procedures preferred.

Starting Salary: $17.30/hour
