City of Orange General Election

May 10, 2008

The City of Orange will conduct a General Election May 10, 2008 to elect a Mayor, Councilmember Place 1, and Councilmember Place 3.

The filing period for candidates is February 11, 2008 through 5:00 p.m. March 10, 2008. Candidate packets are available  and may be filed in the Office of City Secretary, Kerry Kittrell,  telephone 409-883-1042, 803 W. Green Avenue, Room 201, Orange TX 77630.

Filing qualifications and requirements are listed in Article III of the City of Orange Charter. Of special note are Article III, Section 3.02. Qualifications and Filing and Section 3.03.1. Filing Fee or Petition of Qualified Voters Required. Please contact the Office of the City Secretary, telephone 409-883-1042, if you have questions related to filing an application for a place on the ballot.

The first day to accept applications for early ballots to be voted by mail by qualified individuals is March 11, 2008. Applications for early voting ballot to be voted by mail may be obtained from the Office of Orange County Elections Administrator, Tina Leverett, telephone 409-882-7973. Early Voting by Personal Appearance -  Early voting in the City of Orange, City of Pinehurst, West Orange-Cove CISD, and Orange County Navigation and Port District elections will be held at the Orange Public Library, 220 N. Fifth Street Monday, April 28, 2008  through Tuesday, May 6, 2008.

Early voting hours are from 8:30 A.M. --  4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday during the early voting period. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 and Tuesday, May 6, 2008, voters may vote from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Pre-election campaign financial reports (Form C/OH) are due in the Office of the City Secretary April 10, 2008 and May 2, 2008. Semi-annual or Final reports are due in the Office of the City Secretary July 15, 2008. Detailed instructions for filing financial reports are included in each candidate packet.
